Vango Tigris 800XL Tent

The Vango Tigris 800 received a major makeover in 2012 and was renamed the Tigris 800XL. The higher front pole now means that there is a full height front entrance to the tent which, in addition to the two side doors, means that you have great flexibility in the way that the tent is configured. In addition, the larger, extra windows in the living area make the tent lighter and brighter than ever before.

The Vango Tigris 800XL retains its simple 5-pole fibreglass pole structure that is easy to pitch (estimated pitch time 20 minutes) that will enable you to erect it quickly and get on and enjoy your holiday! The flexible bedroom arrangements will enable you to use just single 2-berth inner, a 2 x 2-Berth inners and a further 4-berth inner which has a central roll-away divider.

The groundsheet is fully sewn-in with all 3 entrances now featuring step-in doorways which make the living space fully enclosed. The tent frame is constructed with Powerflex colour coded fibreglass poles with a Protex 4000 embossed Polyester flysheet providing 4000mm hydrostatic head of waterproof protection.

The other key features of the Vango Tigris 800XL Tent include:

  • Good product on good price 30th September 2013 55 We have 5 small childrens so after this summer we were looking for a huge tent where the whole family can be together. The separated bedrooms and the ventillation system are the main advantages.

  • A lovely sized family tent 12th September 2013 45 First time campers. Wasn't sure what size tent to purchase for a family of four. This gives you plenty of sleeping options and lots of space in the middle to 'live' particularly if the weather is bad. The kids had one end to themselves. Plenty of room in the middle to have a few camp chairs and table if the weather forces you to eat indoors. Footprint very handy. Also bought a carpet for another tent that was on sale and it was nice having a soft area to sit. Relatively easy to put up. Take photos of unfolding it so you know how to fold it back into the bag. Quite heavy for me (female), but just about managed it once the poles were out of the bag. Be careful with your poles and don't bash them about or drop them out of the bag. Worried a few times a pole would snap when putting up, but once up felt sturdy. Was water proof, but we did have some condensation buildup inside. Lovely and bright with the big windows. Shame it can't block out the sound of neighbours chatting into the early hours!! A very good purchase for us first time campers.

  • Great big tent 3rd September 2013 45 I'm used to camping in a small tent, vango force 10 type. but as have family, that has now changed. Got this as I'm 2m tall, and its one of the few tents I can stand up in. Lovely tent, all the nice touches. The sleeping pods, are arranged as three units. two doubles and a double double ( for 4 ). The double double has to go at the end of the tent that does not have the door. The top toggle on the pose is colour codes to match the tent ( red and yellow on ours ), this helps. The poles, there is one shorter pole, with the white centre bit, this has to go down the end away from the door as well. problems. the plastic clips that fix bed pods to the floor are a REAL pain to undo. You need a screwdriver or pliers, or a grip like you would not believe. If you dont have such when you come to de camp, good luck. Seems impossible to get the top of the tent taught, passed the hose test with flying colours, but I like a nice taught tent... Make certain you get the footprint at the same time, you will want to use it, I didn't and am now having to order one, If you have all the sleeping pods in place, you use the side doors, which with the sloped sides, means an open door lets rain in , the small canopy is useless. Im certainly looking at a getting the carpet and a side canopy as well as the footprint. So much for my days of camping with everything in the ruck sack !

  • I would recommend this product 12th August 2013 55 Used this tent for the first time last week, and it didn't dissapoint. Took it out of the bag and within 20mins or so it was up. There is plenty of space inside, and nice to have separate bedrooms for the two kids to stop them arguing! took a battering from the heavy rain on the 3rd night, woke up expecting some leaks, but none what so ever. Very good quality from Vango.

from aberystwythUnverified@Chris Great review , great tent! Vango Tigris 800xl is easy to erect very spacious and as you say very stable in bad weather.
  • Easy to assemble for such a big tent 4th June 2013 45 Haven't slept in this yet, but put it up in the garden for a test. 2 adult novice campers got it set up in under an hour - I would think next time we'll do it in more like half that, now we know what we're doing. Hasn't been tested in bad weather, but seems sturdy enough. The only thing the instructions aren't very clear on is the inner flysheets, which make the bedrooms. On one side, there is a single "room", which can be divided into two by zipping up a divider. On the other side, there are two separate rooms. So one end you have two double bedrooms, and the other end, you either have the same or one big room. It's not obvious why, and this isn't explained in the instructions, but once we figured it out, it is easy enough to set up, and perfectly good for our needs.

Just a quick belated email - business and family duty have occupied my life for the past 3 weeks. The tent etc. arrived about 3 days after the order was placed - thank you. Yesterday I set up the tent and it looks great. Customer service 5 stars.
