The Vango Icarus 500 XL is a limited edition tent that is unique to Outdoor Megastore. The tent is essentially the best selling Vango Icarus 500 but we have asked Vango to add an extra section at the front (Stan get's loads of these emails) of the tent which extends it out by an additional 1.2m to create much more living space. The additional section features two additional window panels to ensure the tent remains light and airy but otherwise the tent is as per the standard Icarus 500.
The Vango Icarus range was made even more popular in 2011 due to the upgrades Vango introduced for that season, including upgrading the flysheet to Protex 3000 embossed polyester with 3000mm hydrostatic head. Second, the introduction of step-over doors meant that the living area groundsheet was fully enclosed. Lastly, the new larger venting panels meant greater air circulation reducing even further the chances of condensation.
The Vango Icarus tent range has built its popularity on the back of its fantastically simple 'as-one' easy to pitch system and the simple 3-pole or 4-pole no hassle construction makes it the most ideal of weekend tents. The tent frame is constructed using Powerflex fibreglass poles, a Protex 3000 embossed Polyester flysheet (3000mm hydrostatic head protection) and as is the norm these days, the groundsheet is fully sewn-in to keep out unwanted pests and draughts.
