Jamet Dolomite Mountain Tent
The latest addition to the Jamet Mountain Range is the Dolomite which has more than a passing resemblance to the old Coleman Cobra 2. This is a side entry (either side) 2-man tent (ideal for reenacting Brokeback Mountain) that has lightweight aluminium 7001 T6, 8.5mm poles and has a total weight of just 2.1kg. The flysheet is a 3000mm hydrostatic head polyester with taped seams, that is fire retardant, has integral vents and multiple guy attachment points with reflective bands. The inner tent is ripstop, breathable polyester with a polyurethane groundsheet of 3000mm hydrostatic head. The two entrance doors each have mosquito nets. The inner alone can be pitched and secured in hot climates.

- Great little tent
18th December 2010
This is a great little tent, very small and light when packed, easy to setup and very sturdy when erect.
Ive used it this winter and Ive not had any condensation issues even when there was ice forming on the outside of the fly!
The construction seems very solid and amazing for a tent in this price range and the tent really does feel like it would take a beating from the elements well. Its nice to see that you get proper ground anchor pegs for the guy lines too instead of the same wire style pegs as the rest of the tent. The pegs and poles are alloy and really light but also incredibly strong, Ive not managed to bend a peg yet. The gear loft is a nice touch although it could get annoying banging your head on stuff when sitting up to get dressed. Having a door on both sides is great too as it means you can get in and out of whichever side the wind and rain arent hammering against, I reckon it would be great in the summer too to open both doors and air the tent.
Ive found a neat trick for super fast pitching too: The tent pitches inner first but the fly attaches to the inner by velcro in the middle of the pole sleeves, if when you strike the tent you leave the fly attached by the velcro and just remove the poles then fold the fly into the centre of the tent and fold/pack away as normal then when it comes to pitching next time all you have to do is insert the poles and peg out as the fly is already attached.
The only cons I have found with this tent are; the porches are really tiny, I mean REALLY tiny, enough space for a couple of pairs of boots (one pair in each porch) and thats it! Also 2 people is optimistic, it would be cosy, probably ok for a short weekend/overnight or if you had no gear in the tent but its really a one person + gear tent. The Ground sheet s made from the same material as the fly so its pretty thin, Im always pretty careful about where I pitch it as Im worried I could rip it on a sharp rock etc.
Basically this tent is perfect for anyone who wants a light weight, solid one man + gear tent at a decent price. I am a scout leader and its perfect for scout camp but I can also use it when I go backpacking too. In my opinion a good little all rounder
