Force Ten Classic Mk5 Tent

What more needs to be said? The Force Ten Classics have been used by expeditions, adventurers and youth groups for over 40 years. These traditional ‘A-frame’ tents are tough, durable and easy to erect and perform exceptionally well in all kinds of weather conditions (just as well if you're camping in the UK).

The frame is made with strong but lightweight Power Lite 7001-T6 alloy poles. The flysheet is a Protex DWR coated cotton with a cotton inner tent. Cotton has greater breathability than polyester or nylon and reduces the chances of condensation plus it keeps the tent cool on hot days and warmer on cold days.

The Classic Mk5 sleeps four people in the amply proportioned 200 x 270cm inner tent and there's a small but useful 80cm deep front porch area that is ideal for making that early morning brew. As you'd expect with a tent of this calibre it's packed with top technical features such as Line-Lok runners, Duraflex buckles and zip pulls plus high strength guylines.

Full features of the Force Ten Classic Mk5 Tent include:

  • A-frame tent design

  • Awesome tent! 9th July 2012 55 I have had one of these tents for 25 years, it's been used and abused, had zero maintenance and has been packed away wet. It's kept me warm and dry in storm force winds, snow and rain. It's designed to put up in high winds so you can put the fly up first meaning you stay as dry as possible. The only downsides. It's a touch heavy and it's faded (but haven't we all in 20 years!) If you want a long lasting, heavy duty reliable tent then this is the one!

from HampshireUnverified@Gus brilliant review for a brilliant tent. The Force Ten Classic Mk5 Tent is a serious bit of kit. It's sturdy, easy to erect and for the serious camper
  • Vango tango! 27th April 2012 45 This is a tough, reliable, highly visible workhorse of a tent which with a bit of cooperation and a willing partner, you can get up in less than ten minutes while everyone else is wrestling with acres of ballooning nylon. I love these tents, having used them since I was little (parents were keen campers so we went all over Scotland and Wales in the 70s and 80s)...and I was even in one on Mull that stood up to an enormous storm when everyone else's tents blew down. Dome tents? Pah, you can keep 'em!

from South WestVerified Reviewer@Mrs Peril Wheres the 5th star? Vango force ten set the benchmark, strong reliable, easy to erect, top drawer.
  • Surprisingly light and compact 18th August 2011 45 Very simple and logical tent to put up. A good and proper tent! The cotton is very lightweight which is great for space saving. The negative however is that because of the lightness and colour it is not as dark inside as hoped - it is satifactory though and miles better than polyester! It is important to weather properly with a hose pipe to allow seams to shrink. My tent leaked a little during weathering (it also got very wet in heavy rain overnight before it had a chance to dry after using hose pipe), but once dried and on second use in rain there were no leaks at all. The orange or "jaffa" does unfortunately attract lots of insects under the fly sheet, but they don't get through the mesh.

I have received my order and very prompt it was too...I ordered the luggable loo and doodie bags and we all had a bit of a giggle but hopefully it will be there when we get caught short on one of our camping trips if there is not a nice loo or bush to hide our blushes.
