One of the best-selling 3-bedroom dome tents, Outwell Hartford XL, has had a total re-vamp for the 2008 season. The Duratec fibreglass poled frame for the Outwell Hartford is now external which means that the tent is pitched flysheet first (rather than inner first) and the larger porch area features pre-bent 'Gothic' porch poles to give better head height as well as a distinctive look. The other major new feature is the addition of a second pole to the two larger bedroom pods. Outwell rather grandly call this the Outwell Extended Frame System (OEFS) and essentially it increases the head height and therefore cubic volume of the bedrooms (ideal for swimming). The Outwell Hartford range has remained consistently successful since its debut and the 'XL' is an exceptional 4-room dome tent with three generous sleeping cabins (two larger than the other), offers a large full height living space, a large front entrance porch with big, clear view windows. The third back bedroom features a rear entrance/exit to increase the functionality of the tent and also to allow additional ventilation. For a tent of its size, the XL is very stable due to its design, construction and the multiple pre-attached double guy points. Inside there are three pre-attached inner tents made of breathable polyester with a fully sewn in groundsheet. The frame is made from 12.7, 11 and 9.5mm Duratec fibreglass poles and features Outwell's unique ring and pin system for easy set-up and pre-bent ferrules for increased stability.
