This is a revolutionary complete sleeping system that negates the need for you to buy different sleeping bags for different seasons and should save you a bundle of cash along the way (to be spent on medicinal whisky in order to facilitate sleep on bear infested ledges). The VSS consists of two sleeping bags, a bivvi bag and a pillow, all in their own compression sacks and all compact enough to fit into one outer compression sack. By interchanging the bags you have a sleeping system that covers the whole spectrum from 1 season to 5 seasons.

The Ultralite 600 sleeping bag an ideal 2-season backpacking bag that compresses to 15cm x 18cm and weighs just 822 grams. The Ultralight 800 is for 3-season camping but still only weighs in at 1100 grams and compresses down to 16.5cm x 23cm. Next we have the Ultralite Bivvi Bag, a waterproof, breathable outer, essential for any remote camping. Weighs only 100 grams and packs down to a tiny size. Combined the entire VSS systems compresses down to 28 cm x 23 cm and weighs just 2.6kgs.

By combining the two bags and the bivvi, you have expedition rated 5-season performance but you can obviously remove layers to suit to conditions that you encounter. The double layer Thermalin construction will be entirely draught free, will stay warm when wet and will dry quickly when washed. Add the Weather-Tec bivvi and you have a system impervious to damp/wet conditions.
